The Doctors Company is currently seeking a Patient Safety Risk Manager as a telecommuter reporting to our office located in Jacksonville, Florida.

 

As a Patient Safety Risk Manager, you will develop patient safety programs, identify business growth opportunities, and assess patient safety/risk management concepts and professional standards/regulations. You will be highly skilled in professional speaking and writing suitable for publication. You will provide loss prevention and patient safety services to policyholders, and serve as a regional resource for patient safety/risk related issues.

 

Responsibility:

  • Develop patient safety programs that are both current and relevant
  • Maintain active knowledge and expertise in current patient safety/risk management issues and trends
  • Identify business growth opportunities and partner with employees, policyholders, agents, brokers and other external contacts
  • Assess patient safety risks in complex clinical settings; design a plan of action; monitor for follow-up and measure improvements
  • Analyze systems and processes in the most complex environments, such as hospitals and surgery center, and recommend actions for improvement of systems
  • Design and deliver patient safety presentations as well as speak at national conferences to physicians and other healthcare leaders on patient safety issues

 

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience 
  • Registered nurse or equivalent healthcare education preferred
  • Requires ability to obtain Florida Healthcare Risk Management license within 1 (one) year
  • Requires ability to attain certification in a patient safety, risk management  or related area of specialization, such as CPHRM, CPPS, CPHQ
  • Seven (7) years experience in healthcare or insurance risk management
  • Ability to work different shifts and varying hours, including traveling evenings and weekends as necessary
  • Dedicated area in the home for the required telecommuting equipment
  • Dedicated DSL/Cable Modem line with minimum speed 6.0 MBPS download - 2.0Mbps upload (Business connection preferred, no wireless connection)
  • Static IP address, some areas do not have a Static IP address available and in that case a Public IP address can be ordered
