Mission:  To coordinate filings, guidelines, templates, procedures, and other information needed to support the Underwriting Department in the implementation and delivery of insurance products.

 

 

Key Result Area

 

Objectives/Activities

  1. Underwriting Policy/Procedure Development and Management
  1. Collaborates with AVP, UW & QA to solicit input on underwriting policies, guidelines and procedures and their implementation to meet TDC underwriting goals.
  2. Maintains guidelines, forms, and letters in secure network space for access by Company personnel; provides research and explanation for use of these documents. 
  3. Assists with the creation of policy documents and management of a central receptacle of such documents. 

     2. Regulatory Compliance

  1. Interacts regularly with TDC Regulatory Compliance to ensure compliance with TDC’s filings.

     3.Customer Satisfaction

 

  1. Develops and maintains positive working relationship with internal customers.
  2. Communicates effectively with underwriting team and all other departments as necessary.
  3. Provides accurate reports and documents to appropriate third-parties.
  4. Prioritizes tasks to meet renewal deadlines, service standards and miscellaneous project due dates4

       4.Systems Knowledge

  1. Maintains competence and builds knowledge of all applicable company systems.
  2. Participates in all applicable training programs.

      5. Technical Underwriting Consultation

  1. Provides guidance to regional underwriting on adherence to underwriting standards.
  2. Provides technical underwriting input on underwriting training programs.

       6.Projects and Reports

  1. Participates in miscellaneous projects from management within deadline provided.
  2. Generates requested underwriting reports or create ad hoc reports on demand. 

      7.Culture Management

  1. Supports and follows TDC Core Values.
  2. Serves as role model to others for TDC’s mission and values.
  3. Follows cultural norms and values.

Position Requirements:

 

Education/Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • RPLU or CPCU designation, or progress in obtaining such designation, is preferred.
  • Two or more years insurance experience
  • Two or more years contract law training or experience preferred

 

Skills/Knowledge/Ability: 

 

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of set variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of underwriting rating rules, policy forms, procedures, and functions.
  • Proficiency and aptitude in the use, maintenance, and servicing of computer information systems, including but not limited to Excel and internal underwriting information data bases. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required; knowledge of Business Objects and Microsoft Access strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manage own workflow, prioritize multiple work assignments and resolve questions and problems with management and peers.
  • Strong customer service and team orientation and the ability to work with diverse personalities.
  • Ability to travel and to adapt to a flexible work schedule.

 

Authority:

 

This position reports to the AVP Underwriting and Quality Assurance.
